Selfhost Notion

Last Updated: Aug 13, 2025

Decided to selfhost Outline because Notion violates users’ privacy (did not read though) pretty much as much as they want. As normal person who values their privacy, this is unacceptable.

It took me a good few hours to configure the server (ThinkPad X260), but eventually it did work. The actual contents are all pacakged with docker so all I had to figure out were just the configs, though it wasn’t so intuitive.

I’m going to use it as my solution of note taking and documenting. It is also only available to me or anyone that has an aubsebian email address, because there’s only one sign in option and it’s through private Slack App which only allows one specific workspace. Maybe in the future I would replace it with just email address login, but it works fine now.
